At the beginning of July we ran a competition for a winner and a friend to spend the day with us at the Ian Poulter Invitational. To enter our customers had to purchase a 2013 limited edition putter cover and then we selected our winner at random. Steve Coppock bought a Saltire putter cover and was chosen as our ‘Team member’ winner. Steve and his friend Rob Conelly from the Bedfordshire Golf club joined us at Woburn golf club on Monday 22nd July. Their day went a little something like this: 8am – breakfast in the Bloomsbury room at Woburn Golf club 8.30am – Steve and Rob met Ian briefly for the first time as he was meeting all of the juniors 9.45am – Steve, Rob and IJP graphic designer Nicole went out to the glorious Duchess course with two buggies and prepared for a round of golf. As Rob stepped on to the first tee he said “Blimey! Where’s the fairway?!” as the Duchess course is renowned for being extremely tight and tree lined. They soon got the hang of things and played some lovely shots. Steve played magnificently well and won the little match the trio had. Rob and Nicole remain adamant that they let Steve win as he was the competition winner! 2pm – Lunch time on the terrace followed by a few drinks to recover from the morning in the blazing sunshine. 4.30 – 5.30pm – Trick show performed by IJP Design ambassador Kevin Carpenter followed by a clinic from Ian Poulter. Ian went through his normal warm up routine and answered all of the questions thrown at him by the enthusiastic juniors. He also gave everyone an insight into his Open experience last week and why certain clubs did or didn’t make it into the bag. 6pm – Prize presentation for the juniors followed by a lovely Woburn BBQ on the terrace with the IJP Design team members. Thank you very much to Steve and Rob for being such wonderful company on the day!
